SENATE ENERGY AND WATER BILL PRIORITIZES ENVIRONMENTAL CLEANUP
Last night the Senate Appropriations Committee unanimously approved the Senate Energy and Water Appropriations Bill, S.4927, which includes spending for fiscal year (FY) 2025 spending for DOE of $52.370 billion, an increase of 2.12 billion from fiscal year (FY) 2024. The bill has a clear focus on increasing funding to Environmental Cleanup.
Environmental and other Defense Activities
FY2025 would provide a total of $9.315 billion in funding
This would be $665 million more than FY2024
This would be $1 billion more than the House Bill
FY2025 would provide $7.55 billion to fund cleanup at defense sites
This would be $265 million more than in FY2024
This would be $42 million more than the House Bill
National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)
FY2025 would provide the NNSA with $25.2 billion
This would be a $1.1 billion increase from FY2024
This would be $266 million less than the House Bill
Nuclear Energy
FY2025 would provide $1.675 billion in funding to nuclear energy
This would a be a decrease of $10 million from FY2024
This would be about $12 million less than the House bill
Legacy Management
FY2025 would provide LM with $205.25 million
This would be an increase of $8.956 million, in line with the President's request
